Bank of America haults foreclosures in all fifty states

Posted by Maura on October 8, 2010

This article just came out this afternoon from MSNBC News. Bank of America has announced that they will stop the foreclosure process in all fifty states. Apparently they and other leading foreclosure lenders are under fire in what is being referred to as the the "robo-signing" scandal, where the foreclosures-processing department has supposedly processed numerous loans by signing without proper review from a bank employee. Other banks are  following suit, with J.P.Morgan/Chase, and Ally bank have already stopped foreclosure processing in 23 states.

Obviously this will have far reaching effects for those who have stopped payment on their homes and would ordinarily be in the foreclosure process.

Will this be a positive thing for our country, currently in the Great Recession, or will it further serve to hammer us deeper in the fly paper hole of dept that we are currently stuck in?

On a local level, it has rained really really hard in the Lake Tahoe and Truckee region, with unusual night time thunder storms. It felt more like Colorado than California, but it was really cool to see rain day after day. And the mountain biking...was....all time....

Enjoy your weekend!
