The high today for Truckee is 33, and there are a few inches on the ground. The winter switch has been flipped. Every year this takes everyone by surprise, however, any mountain citizen needs to be prepared anytime after Labor Day. The last beautiful 6 weeks have been a bonus. We did go from fall to winter somewhere on Sunday morning, when Daylight Savings kicked in.

I am currently in Vermont for a funeral. Yes, this is a bummer, but Grammie, my Grandmother-in-law had a long and rich life, and went relatively quickly while taking a nap. So aside from the obvious sad nature of the trip, I decided to make cider with rotten apples. Pun intended, since fall in Vermont is cider-making season.

Top wind speeds were clocked at 130 miles today. Apocolyptic rain hammed down all day, and continues to hammer down into the night. On this day, I was lucky enough to visit CoffeeBar, a new coffee shop that opened this past week on Jiboom Street in Downtown Truckee. I ordered a latte. Not only was it FREE for their grand opening, but it was stunning. I wanted to crawl into this latte.

This article just came out this afternoon from MSNBC News. Bank of America has announced that they will stop the foreclosure process in all fifty states.
